Cal Phil Sweeps in with “Swords and Chivalry” July 25, 26

file-foto-cabar-feidh-cal-phil-2009Macho Medieval nonsense as seen through movies takes the California Philharmonic Orchestra on a fantasy tour of music at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 25 at The Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Gardens, Arcadia, and at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 26 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles. “The Mask of Zorro”, “Braveheart”, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” are on the program. But, there’s more: Robert Thies is piano soloist in Rachmaninoff’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini”, excerpts from Richard Wagner’s “Tristan and Isolde” and Cole Porter’s “Kiss Me Kate” plus the Cabar Feidh pipe and drum band.
