Young pianist Hunter Noack with Pasadena Pops

Music at Pasadena Pops this weekend celebrates everything a Francophile would want in the season’s second concert at Descanso Gardens Friday, July 17 and Saturday, July 18 with the concert  beginning at 7:30 p.m. with all the musical standards connected to the French capitol.
Guest artists are Steve Connell, Karen Afile-foto-yangyue-fang-pianist-pops-2009kers and pianists Yangyue Fang and Hunter Noack. Connell, actor, author, hip-hop poet will be on hand to narrate Saint-Saen’s “Carnival of the Animals” and Karen Akers will bring a song tribute to Edith Piaf. Noack is a young pianist in his junior year at USC studying under Kevin Fitz-Gerald. Fang is a young lady now studying at The Colburn School of Performing Arts. Gershwin’s “American in Paris” will be a centerpiece number on the program. Rachael Worby conducts.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. for picnicking, the music is at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from $20 to $90. Information: (626) 793-7172, ext. 16.
