10th Anniversary Makoto Taiko Concert, Mission Playhouse, Aug. 22

File foto - Koji Nakamura, Dir Makoto Taiko Aug 22 2009The Shumei Arts Council will be a major supporter of the 10th Anniversary Makoto Taiko at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse, San Gabriel at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22. The drummers are colorful and the Taiko ensemble sensational. Koji Nakamura leads the drummers and is joined by saxophonist Paul Winter. Winter was awarded a GramPaul Wintermy in 2007 in the Best New Age Album category. He is an advocate for maintaining cultures of the world and has travelled to over 37 countries.
The performance this year is “The Sound of Oneness” by Makoto Taiko, a Pasadena-based Japanese Taiko drum group. Also on stage will be Grand Master Taiko drummer Seiichi Tanaka, founder of The San Francisco Taiko Jojo.
