Opera at Westfield Santa Anita Mall Oct 10

The Metropolitan Opera has screened its productions in local theaters for the last few years. AMC Theaters at the Westfield Santa Anita Mall begins the 2009-2010 Metropolitan Opera season in digital High Definition format on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 10:00 a.m. The opening opera is Giacomo Puccini’s “Tosca”with soprano Karita Mattila in the title role. James Levine conducts. Running time is 3 hours and 27 minutes with 2 intermissions. This production did not receive kindly critical comments from reviewers, and the crowd booed at the end due to what the press office terms “imaginative theater”. Still, opera of this caliber is hard to come by for $22.75, the price of a ticket. Other ticket prices are children, $18; seniors $20. Order tickets online at www.movietickets.com. AMC Santa Anita is in the mall at 300 N. Baldwin Ave., Arcadia.
