Live electronic and electroacoustic music comes to the South Pasadena Public Library at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 presented by a brand new organization, People Inside Electronics (PIE) created by composer-performers Aron Kallay and Isacc Schankler to allow classic works of the 20th century and brand new music to be heard side-by-side.
The concert is the first for the group and will bring together a diverse array of talented performers. Performing musicians include Kallay, piano; Andrea Moore, percussion; Joni Prado, soprano; Jonathan Wright, violin; Rachel Vetter-Huang, violin; Cynthia Fogg, viola, Thomas Flaherty, cello; Isaac Schankler, piano and Andrew Tholl, violin.
In addition to works by Peter Ablinger, Bill Alves, John Luther Adams, and Milton Babbitt, found Schankler’s new “Mobile I” will be given its premiere. “Mobile I”, program notes say, is “for violin and autonomous unpredictable live electronics”. Schankler is a doctoral candidate in composition at USC’s Thornton School of Music.
This exhilarating new music needs an audience and deserves support. Suggested donation, at the door, is $15.  The Community Room of the South Pasadena Public Library is located at 1115 El Centro St., South Pasadena.
