Camerata Pacifica at Huntington Library Nov. 17

File Foto - Camerata Pacifica - rehearsal photo 2009When Camerata Pacifica travels down from Santa Barbara to its other performance venues, they will arrive at The Huntington Library, Art Galleries and Botanical Gardens on Tuesday, Nov. 17 for their 8:00 p.m. concert.
The program is not standard chamber music but rather presents four composers in works for flute, piano and string quartet. Up first is Arthur Foote’s 1918 “Nocturne and Scherzo” for flute, and string quartet; to be followed by Phillipe Gaubert’s “Piece Romantique” for flute, cello and piano. Third is Alberto Ginastera;s 1942 work “Impresiones de la Puna”; finally, Lera Auerbach’s 1999 composition, “Twenty-four Preludes” for cello and piano. Auerbach is joining this Camerata Pacifica concert and will be at the piano to perform her piece.
Based on past performances, Camerata Pacifica musicians are capable of bringing these little known, mostly modern (and one contemporary) music a good hearing that might even convince a listener that “newer” music is worthwhile. The musicians are the music director of the group, Adrian Spence, flute; Tereza Stanislav, violin; Adnes Gottschewski, violin; Richard Yongjae O’Neill, viola; Ani Aznavoorian, cello; Lera Auerbach, piano.
Tickets are $42. Information: (805) 884-8410 or visit www.cameratapacifica.org.
