Santa Cecilia Orchestra 17th Season opens Nov. 22

File foto - SoniaMarie de Léon de Vega, St. Cecilia Orch 2009The Santa Cecilia Orchestra under the direction of music director/conductor Sonia Marie De Léon de Vega continues its special mission to serve the Latino community as it opens its 17th season at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22 in Thorne Hall, Occidental College.
November 22, it turns out, is St. Cecilia Feast Day. Music’s patron saint will bring bright and colorful music to Thorne Hall with its program that includes music of Antonio Vivaldi, Ottorino Respighi and Modest Musssorgsky.
Vivaldi’s Concerto Grosso No. 11 in D-minor; Respighi’s “Pines of Rome” and Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition” will be performed.
Tickets prices are $26, $20 and $7 for youth 17 and under. Occidental College Thorne Hall is located at 1600 Campus Rd., Los Angeles. Information: (323) 259-3011.
