Southwest Chamber Music Tour Preview Concert Nov 16

File foto - Southwest Chamber at Colburn (Zipper) 2009Southwest Chamber Music has a spectacular resumé to its name, including two Grammys. Now they are taking the act (so to speak) on the road. First to Guadalajara, Mexico in November and next Spring to Vietnam.
Southwest Chamber will give a Tour Preview Performance of its trip to the Mexican State of Jalisco at the Colburn School at 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16. The tour, sponsored by the NEA and the Cultural Affairs Department of the City of L.A.will perform at the Spanish Book Fair Arts Festival.
For the tour preview, the ensemble will perform Alexandra du Bois’ “Bryant Medley”, John Adams’ “Shaker Loops”, Carlos Chavez’”Cuatro melodias Indias”, and Aaron Copland’s “Appalachian Spring”.
Performers at the preview will include soprano Suzanna Guzman; Lisa Edelstein, flute; Helen Goode-Castro, clarinet; Allen Savedoff, bassoon; Ming Tsu, piano; Lorenz Gamma, Shalini Vijayan, Limor Toren-Immerman, Ishani Bhoola, violins; Jan Karlin, Karen Elaine, violas; Peter Jacobson, Simone Uranofsky, cellos; Tom Peters, double bass; and Jeff von der Schmidt, conductor.
Tickets are $38; senior discount tickets, $28; students on the day of the performance with ID, $10. Parking is available at Walt Disney Concert Hall which is across the street from the Colburn School. Information: (800) 726-7147.
