Roger Lebow has emailed us to say that the rain will have cleared out by tomorrow afternoon, “you hop into the car and zip”, he says to Bridges Hall of Music, Pomona College to be on hand for the 3:00 p.m. recital-concert Sunday, Feb. 28 that the well-known cellist will present with the equally regarded Gayle Blankenburg.
The two will perform the heretofore unknown works by Willem Pijper, Hans Pfitzner, Jean Sibelieus, Franz Liszt, Gareth Farr and others.
Bridges Hall of Music is located at 150 E. 4th St., Claremont. Admission is free.
Pasadena Pro Musica Double Chorus 7:30 p.m. in Alhambra
Kristina Valcarce reminded us that Pasadena Pro Musica will be performing Ralph Vaughn Williams’ Mass in G Minor and selected works of Felix Mendelssohn at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 28 at St. Therese Church, Alhambra.
Stephen Grimm will conduct the music for double chorus, unaccompanied.

Mezzo-Soprano Laurie Rubin in Benefit Concert, 7:30 p.m. at Zipper
Mezzo-soprano Laurie Rubin is returning to her roots (she is a native of Encino, but not based in New York City) to perform a program of works by Mozart, Rodrigo, Gershwin, Sondheim and others. Unannounced guest artists are scheduled to appear in this benefit concert for the Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind to be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28 at Zipper Concert Hall at the Colburn School of Music.
Tickets are $50; students $20.

Chamber Jazz L.A. in South Pasadena at 7:30 p.m.
Suezanne Fordham at the Steinway, Timm Boatman on Drums, and Charlie Domingo, bass perform chamber jazz at the South Pasadena Music Center at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28. Not only will the music show influences of Bill Evans and Bartok, each can (and will) play Tibetan instruments. This is the second in a series of four performances for Chamber Jazz L.A. The group returns to the South Pasadena Music Center on Sunday, March 28 and will appear with Bob Carr, jazz bassoonist, at the First Baptist Church of Glendale on April 21 for a noon concert.
