You have to ask how the South Pasadena Restoration Concert series keeps coming up with such wonderful artists as violinist Linda Wang and pianist Shari Raynor who highlight the fifth concert in a series of six regular dates at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 14 at the South Pasadena Public Library Community Room.
Ms. Wang was sensational last Spring with the Pasadena Symphony when she performed Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E-minor. Now to be able to hear her in an intimate recital venue at the library’s Community Room should be a special treat.
Ms. Raynor, who serves on the Fine Arts Division faculty at Pepperdine, has received accolades for her playing which has resulted in winning the Presidential Medallion in the Arts and was one of 10 selected to represent the United States at the International Van Cliburn Piano Competition.
Together, Wang and Raynor will perform a program of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, Robert Schumann, Astor Piazzolla, Tom Miller and Maurice Ravel.
Tickets are $18 at the door as space allows. The South Pasadena Public Library Community Room is at 1115 El Centro St., South Pasadena. Information: (626) 799-6333.
