OK, so Memorial Day week-end isn’t here yet, but it’s certainly on the horizon and that means summer outdoor concerts. The first to arrive is the Pasadena Pops Orchestra who will perform a free concert at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, May 22 at what is now called Centennial Square, that huge space in front of the Pasadena City Hall. The fun begins at 5:30 p.m. with food trucks, Kidspace Children’s Museum activities and performances by the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus and The Donald Brinegar Singers.
The concert itself, with the orchestra under the baton of Rachael Worby, will be a lively affair including music from “Star Wars”, “The Lion King”, “Pink Panther”, “There’s No Business like Show Business”, and more. Tenor Dennis McNeil will give a preview of what to expect at this summer’s concert series to be held adjacent to the Rose Bowl begins on June 19.
Bring your chairs and blanket – or rental chairs will be available at $3 each, and prepare for a whale of a good time.
