Arcadia Concert in the Park–July 29

July 29—Caribbean-Calypso music by Upstream. Founded in 1989 in Trinidad and Tobago to bring Soca music to America and to keep the sound alive that was invented by Ras Shorty I (Garflield Blackman). Upstream is headed by Blackman’s two sons Haile on vocals, guitar and drums, and Johnny also on drums. Soca music is a combination of soul and calypso. The group also performs Reggae.
There is a kid’s fun zone and in the past the Arcadia Historical Society has provided beverages. Arcadia Concerts in the Park begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays on the lawn, City Hall West, Arcadia. Bring blankets and chairs. Free
